Here's my 2nd brand new song, i did everything. As you can see, there's two links with the same song but different mixes. Differences are the snare, overall EQ, volume...well which one is better, i like them both but how about the other people? so i can decide which standard of my own im gonna follow.

"Make a Call"

Mix 1 - Snare is hard hit more mids , more overall crunch, overall more mids, bass is overcompressed, drums has low ratio compression

Mix 2 - Snare medium hit with more mid bass, overall is smooth, overall mids are cut, low compression on bass, drums are overcompressed

Listening to the second mix right now. Something does seem odd. Probably the drums you pointed out. It seems dull and has some funny sound to it. Good tune, but....

First mix....dude, much better. Doesn't have the pumping feel of the other one. Much better, in my opinion....

Pretty catchy song. I, too, liked the first mix better; the snare sample is better and more convincing. The first thing that caught my ear was the over used auto-tune. Turn the auto-tune down just a bit. Overall this is definitely a decent mix. Keep em' coming.

I'm with the first mix crowd. The first mix sounds more...I dunno, real? Natural? Vibrant. The other one has a darker sound to it. When you listent to them both one after the other, the first sounds more alive and energetic.

Cool song, man!

First off nice job on getting a good contemporary sound on your song jerberson12. I like the 1st mix better. But I’d like to hear just a little more bass in the first mix. Just turn it up a db or so and see how that effects everything else. Maybe you’ve got right in the first mix. Just a suggestion.

Catchy Tune.

Hi

I can't listen to too many mp3's where I'm based. So I only listened to the first mix.

It's a great song. A great sound. Very contemporary as others have said. Not really a critique -- but a thumbs-up :)

Thanks for the listen

ya, you can hear the auto tune digitizing your sound on vocals. Turn it down just a little bit and youll be golden. Great song!

I prefer Mix 2. I can hear the vocals better in that mix. The part with the megaphone voice could be a bit louder IMHO. Great Tune BTW....

good song....

...I think the 2nd mix was taken off the server.

The first mix had good drums but I would have liked to hear the guitars come up a little when during the verse. And lose the auto-tune. yuck.

1st mix is pretty decent, drums are a little back, it's a little midrangey for me, mostly 800Hz-1KHz... Crash cymbal is artificial sounding, not helped by mid boost... Wish I could hear mix 2, from the description I bet I'll like it more...

Big change in the overall balance and curve at 1:57 is a little disconcerting, but it settles back down...

Cool tune!!!

oh wow i thought this thread is over, well i took out the 2nd mix from my site to save some space and dont have a copy and anyway i stick with my 1st mix. Thanks for the feddbacks guys.

Yes drums are fake, its all sampled from beta mokey drum samples using battery drum machine. I thought my autotune is just fine, coz ive heard a lot of commercial songs using a lot of autotune especially punk rock. And BTW my guitar tracks are also somewhat artificially setup, im using NI Guitar Rig and bass too....well hope nobody realized its a fake...
