I completely forgot, when I got my 990 about two weeks ago I did a test with an SM58 running simultaneously. Ah well.

No, I didn't think to post it, and I think I accidentally deleted the files. I might still have them somewhere, though.... I did a very short test, just sang a verse and chorus of one of my songs. The SM58 was a big muddy on my voice, as usual... no surprise there, it's never been a good mic for me. The MXL990 was very bright and sibilant, as you noted, and picked up EVERY LITTLE THING that went on. Really, just the same things that've already been said. It was a bit too bright for my voice, made me sound a little dry, but when I mixed that with a bit of the SM58 it sounded nice and full.
