we don't need rest!!
Is it agreed that the 603 is just a more expensive version of the 991 and being replaced by the 993 (which also has a low cut filter and -10dB switches)?

btw...I just got the 990 and 991 "kit" at Guitar Center in Nashville for $75, so I bought two. 4 half decent mics for $150...not a bad deal.

Sure, don't tell me when there's a deal to be had. ;-)

BTW - did you get my e-mail re: DX?

yeah...thanks for the email. I don't particularly want to join a Yahoo group for some gut reason, and kinda drifted away from DX anyway. I kinda feel I lost things in common with most in the group anyway.

I am enjoying the mics however. They seem pretty decent, and having a pair of each is a good deal. They seemed matched enough to serve that purpose too.

they had these at the Baton Rouge GC for $49

i have to drive an hour and a half to go to the guitar center in raliegh :( but a $75 deal might be worth it.

I contacted the sales people at Marshall. I asked them if it was true that the 603 and the 991 were the same...they denied it. Stating that they were completely different mics with different sound characteristics.

Somebody with both wanna show us a comparison?

Hmm, I contacted tech department at Marshall, and they told me that they are the same. Anyway, I closely compared these two mics--they have the same capsule, the same circuit, grill looks the same, and surprisingly..... sound the same

The PC board had only slight difference, but I had modified a "new" versions of 603, and the board was changed to exactly the same as 991.

That's odd...really. I received an email from them stating the opposite. I'll try to dig it up...it's an old email. Realize that I received this information from sales not tech. Either way, I based my selection on their comments.

My bad...the comparison info given to me compared the 603 and the 993 in which sales stated that they were completely different mics with different audio response curves (which he could not supply at the time).

wow!!! had I received that deal, I might have bought more. But I am still happy with my purchase at the $150 price for the four mics.

it was a Grand Opening sale (no haggle :D ).....they are easily worth the $99 they usually go for, so $75 aint bad at all......
