Hi folks -

I need your expertise - I just won an MXL V77 on Ebay. Tossed in a bid in the last few minutes, kinda surprised I won. Anyway - looks like the price was kinda high, since I have to buy a tube power supply, shock mount, cord, etc. Silly me - I had a glass of wine on an empty stomach and didn't even check to see if they were included.

Anyone know exactly what I need? I'm totally new to mics - read some good reviews on this one. Not even sure why I bid - figured I'd give the mic a shot for vocals.

Are these extra things unobtanium? I have no clue. Thanks in advance for helping out a total Newb. BTW - I'm putting together a little studio - bought a Tascam 388, a Beringher T1953, some Alesis Comps and Rev, and now this mic for vocals. Not a great setup, but decent for messing around.

Look on eBay here:

It's the exact same power supply. They all use the same one for non-multipattern mics. Now all you need is a 7-pin cable. Unfortunately I don't have an idea where to get that off the top of my head.

Redco.com is a good source for cable stock and connectors. If you don't want to roll your own they will also build a custom cable.

You can get the V77 power supply from MXL.

MXL told me that the V69 PS won't work with the V77 when I got my V77 PS replacement.

Can't help it, but I always have a feeling that when a mic appears on ebay without the PSU, it may be a stolen one, stolen by some idiot who didn't know tube mics have a PSU.

I don't know how much you've payed for the mic, I just ordered for a new one and it'll cost me €250 with shockmount, cable, PSU and a nice case.

Sounds to me like like they sold you something.

Yeh, when I first got my V77 I had the PS set to 220v instead of 110v and it cooked, but they sent me a replacement for free. Great guys!!

I think the V77 PS is around $50.00, but that was a couple years back.
