MXL 993 Condenser Microphones

Hello everyone, new member here.

Does anyone have any experience or anything to say about these microphones?

If they're no good, is there a price sensetive alternative you could recommend?

The 604's come with cardioid and omni capsules, very respected mics.

A way cheaper mic and maybe more respected, would be from www.Naiant.com

Ok its omni, but if you have a good room with some good sound treatment MSH-1 might be the better choice. Please search the Naiant site for sound clips, there is a small gaggle of them there, gives you a great idea what they might sound like in your room/s. If you absolutely need cardioid mics, then the 604's, Oktava's O12's, and Studio Projects C4's are all good selections (I think the Oktavas and C4's are a little more). Then there is always the Shure SM81s, but that is in a different ballpark price wise.
