MXL 992 on Acoustic

i just got in an MXL 992 ($79)
i wanted to see how it did on an old acoustic of mine.

I think it sounds good. Not really overly bright which mxl gets yanked on for a lot. Sounds like your guitar is a little brighter. I prefer more low end than that though. Where did you (lo-fi)mike it?


And most importantly, do you like how it sounds?

i miced it about 8in from the 12th fret.

i pretty much have the same opinion, the mic has wonderful clarity and brightness, but really lacks in fullness (mid to low range).

i really do like this mic though, if i were recording this for a serious session i would mic the rhythm parts with my KSM27, then use the MXL 992 for the picking parts.
