MXL 990/991 impedance problem

Just got a MXL 990/991 pair with a AudioBuddy. When I run it into the Line-In on my computer to record in Cakewalk, the signal is too hot. I have to turn the input volume down all the way and the gain on the AudioBuddy just barely on and then get at least two feet from the mic's to get the recording volume right.

Of course, if I go into the Mic-In on the computer the signal is way too hot then. Do I need to run through a mixer or something else to get an impedance match?
Sorry for such a dumb question. Thanks for any help.

The problem is almost certainly not with the audiobuddy or the mics - it sounds like it's with the soundcard line-in volume (though you say you've turned the "input volume" all the way down.) If you haven't done so, go to the software controls for the soundcard (possibly just a right click on the volume icon in your task bar - it depends on your soundcard/operating system) and turn the line-in volume down.

What sound card are you using?
