MXL 603s shockmount...

...Does the 603s need a shockmount to be used as overheads, etc...? Do any of you 603s owners utilize shockmounts for these mics? If so, which shockmount fits the application? Thanks!

I don't use a shockmount with them, and I've never had the slightest problem.

I use the Sabrasom universal shockmount for the MC012's, and they will fit almost any mic from the 603 to an NTK. They're a little pricey, but fit almost anything. Check The Sound Room on line.-Richie

Thanks guys. Richie, that Sabrasom looks like a great shockmount; I saw it fits lots of other mics, too... and at $50, it's worth it to have that kind of flexibility...

Yeah, for big mics, they just stick straight through, and for small ones, you criss/cross the elastics. I actually bought one of them plus the sound protection kit, which gives you another shockmount and T-bar for coincedent pairs, as well as the (excellent) Sabrasom pod filter. it's a really versatile combo.-Richie
