MXL 603 or Oktava MC012

Which one of these would you choose to close mic acoustic guitar?

(or any other recommendation that are as cheap!)

Your welcome... and both mics are nice for acoustic guitar... but most of the time, I favor the Marshall MXL603S over the Oktava MC-012 for acoustic guitar. ;)

You should keep in mind that by defult MP3 files squish the sound and cutoff the highs, and are NOT the best way to compare mics... critical listening requires a good monitoring system and etc.

I'm going to weigh in in favor of the MC 012s. Much woodier tone: better low end and smoother highs.

Sometimes I prefer the MC-012 too... are you basing your opinion on first hand experience or just from MP3 files?

Let's put it this way: I sold my MXL 603s to buy MC012s.

To me, accoustic guitar tracks done with an mc012 sound great solo but tend to get muddy in a busy mix. The 603's are sometimes a tad too bright for solo stuff but fit just perfectly in a mix.

This might be true. I almost always use a LDC, usually my NTK, for acoustic parts in a busy mix, and I don't have problems with muddiness in this case. At least not to my ears.

I can't remember if you were one of the ones who can't hear the difference between the SM57 and SM58, the B1 and B3 and etc... are you one of those guys?

If the guitar part is predominate in a song, I like to pair the 603 with a MD441 to take the edge off of it some. They make a great pair. The 603 is pretty sensitive to placement too. A small distance can make a lot of difference in the tone.

I never said that I couldn't hear the difference between the B1 and B3, only that the difference wasn't huge. So, basically, you're attacking me because I dared to disagree with you on the MXL 603. You're seriously disturbed dude. Does owning an RV park make it easier to conduct your satanic animal sacrifices in peace?

Howzabout posting some of your mixes, moron? Or are you afraid that we'd realize that you're a blowhard with no skills whatsoever? Wait, we already realize that.

Hey chessrock, do I still have to behave, or can I rip him up now?

Just try to "rip me up." All I did was civilly disagree with you, and you started something up like the deranged individual you are.

Until you post some decent sounding mixes, no one will take you seriously anyway.

EDIT: You don't call that shit you posted is a decent sounding mix do you?
