I decided to order a stereo pair of these mics after reading all the great recommendations they received on this site. I live in France and had a hard time finding these in europe, but finally found them online at Musicain's Gear. I ordered them on Oct.14th (almost seven weeks ago) and they were supposed to be delivered in two weeks. I was told on Nov.8th "will check and come back. needs 2 days.wir werden recherchieren und melden uns in 2 tagen wieder"
and then on the 17th, "wholesale for mxl microphones is a drag. they even do not answere we try it again and come back tomorrow" that was two weeks ago. Two days ago I sent them another e-mail and still haven't received a response.
Has anyone else ever bought anything from this place? It's pissing me off because I want to use these mics for my recording projects. I ordered some cables and a mic stand with this order and haven't received them either. I ordered a dmp3 and some other things from Thomann, also in Germany, and they sent my order in two different shipments within a week of ordering.... I doubt this company gets many repeat customers.

That sucks. I hope everthing works out so you'll have them for Christmas.

Thomann are pretty reliable, a bit slow though, musicstoreare pretty fast and actually reply to e-mail!! Musicians gear are a disaster zone - as you can tell from their hideous site. The only thing *anyone* I know has ever bought from them was a GEM piano which arrived with a distortion problem, arranging for a return was like getting blood out of a stone. I would cancel that order asap and request a refund - you are perfectly within your rights to do so.

If I was getting a couple of cheap mics now I'd get these:-

It is a waste of time trying to communicate with these people via e-mail - get on the phone!

i dont know if the website has any accolades but thats something to look for.....also look for websites who have an actual store

I actually had never heard of that website, but I was trying to find a source for these mics in europe and there was a post on this site that mentioned this company being Thomann's biggest competition in Germany, so I thought they must be pretty good. I sent them another e-mail to give them one more chance. I told them that if I wasn't going to receive my order ithin the next few weeks, then I'd want a refund. I received another "needs two days" reply and today, it had been five days, I called them only to get the answering machine. I told them that I wanted a refund and that they should respond soon via e-mail...... and something about legal action. internet fraud is serious business and I won't tolerate getting ripped off. I had my heart set on getting these microphones because all the praise they've gotten on this forum. I want them for recording martin acoustic guitars as well as other acoustic instruments. Once I get a refund, i'll either buy these same mics from a source in the states or consider another brand for a few hundredd dollars more. If there is another studio pair I could buy for 500 euros or less, I'd do it once I get the refund if they are better than the marshalls, but from what I've seen on this site, the Marshalls are hard to beat in the under 500 €uros category.

hi
get oktavas or rode nt5's.
i would buy them at the thomann internet store, i dont know if that dubai based company you ordered them at is a rip off

Well, I finally received my mics today. Three days after I left a message on their machine saying I wanted the refund they send me an e-mail that my order is on it's way.....
I haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but a mic stand that I also bought with this order was damaged in shipping. It was an inexpensive stand, so I just superglued it and it'll be fine. I just want to say that I wouldn't recommend that anyone buy from this company. You'll probably get your order eventually, but it might not be packed well enough. Luckily the MXL's come in their own, well-padded carrying case.
