mxl 2003 as overheads

just curious how yall would compare a pair of mxl 2003 as overheads compared to mxl 603 and what would the big differences be

I would just use it as a mono overhead personally. A little friendlier than a pair of 603s. The one difference I noticed is that the large diaphram condenser had a better snare sound. Do you own these mics or are you looking to buy them?

i own one 2003 and a couple 603s but the 2003 got broken before i could try using it as an overhead which it seemed like it might sound nice on

It's definitely pretty okay for it. I mean what do they sell for on ebay, $50? seems really worth it to me, I still use mine even though I have "nicer" mics. Just gets the job done for my ears.

I didn't think they sounded any better than a pair of 57s overhead. And 57s are not very good overhead mics.

57s are that bad as overheads.... they arent as detailed or as bright but they got a kinda cool sound to them actually

The 603s or the single 2003? I've them all and the 2003 is the best bet.
