Muting phantom power

Hi! Currently, I have an NW 800 + U-Phoria UMC22 and I want to mute it via hardware and I don't care about popping noises. I read that is possible by connecting the 2 and 3 pins, is it correct?
Is there any possibility to damage something?
Also, is better this method or using a double pole switch to disconnect both pins?
Thank you very much!

There's a bunch of commercially available options. Pins 2 and 3 should have the same 48 volts, so I don't think it will harm anything to connect them.

Shorting 2 & 3 is the standard way to mute a mic input. You don't want an open circuit because that could cause an increase in noise, RF interference or even instability.
As BSG says, the phantom voltages on 2&3 should be near identical so nor harm there.

Orchid Electronics make a nice mic mute box.
