Hey

Anyone got any personal experience with MusicMan SUB 4 string bass? I'm thinking about buying one so any opinions on the specific bass or their bass guitars in general would be useful.

Cheers

John

I've never been too into Music Man basses, mainly because so few of them have more then a bridge pickup and I hate having so little movement under my fingers when I play down that far, but I've still given them about 100 chances and dispite my own grudge with their pickup placement, they really do sound amazing. Can't say I've played the spicific model you're speaking of though. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks guys. Appreciated.

I've heard a few bass players saying that they are great, though it must be said all played the $2000 5 string basses. The basses I'm looking at are below $600 so I'm expecting them to be of a lessser quality.

Would you have any other recommendations for basses I should look at in this price range?

Cheers

John

If you can find one that's affordable (as in used and being sold by a total dumbass) the Music Man Bongo series are amazing basses! Their ugly as sin, but the play and sound like gold!

I went to go buy an SUB bass and i plugged it in an ampeg svt and thought it lacked tone and i ended up hating the look of it. It coems in limited colors textured paint and the "metal" pickgaurds. Anyway, I went back to the used section and picked up a schecter stiletto instead. Much more tone.

yeah i always wanted a musicman too...until i found an 87ish G&L L2000 which has both bridge and neck humbuckers..sounds like a musicman, but also has the deep sound of both hums on at the same time..got her used at guitar center for only $600, and it's flawless..no scratches, no scratchy pots or anything, and it sounds amazing!

Thanks for your replies guys. Much appreciated. I'll be goig to try out some new basses on Wednesday. If nothing else it'll give me some more things for comparison in the price range.

cheers
