CAN I CONNECECT A MIXER TO A LAPTOP THAT HAS NO RCA PLUGS TO MAKE THE NECESSARY CONNECTIONS SO SOME KIND OF CORD CONVERSION WOULD HAVE TO
BE MADE. I'VE READ ABOUT IT FOR RECORDS AND CB'S. SO WOHAT'S THE FINAL ANSWER?
 
Probably not. Most laptops come with with a simple microphone input on a 1/8" jack. Some use a multi pin jack that combines a mic input with headphone outputs. None of these are set up for line level signals, and it's a rarity to have stereo inputs.

The proper way to do it is to get an audio interface that connects via USB. There are very basic ones, depending on whether you need mono or stereo. Examples would be



For simple recording of something like a live event, Audacity would be sufficient.
