why not?

the only porn I wouldn't score is that violent stuff Blake, or what's his name?, makes. Porn about women getting raped and murdered is just sick.

There are better ways to make a living, to make art and contribute to the improvement of people.

Who says everybody wants to contribute to the improvement of peoples. Some art is only porn worthy. So if that helps them make a living they have fufilled their lifes ambition

but I'd also like to add that I have written and recorded the music to some rather racy home videos as a kind of compositional exercise. And yes, the Dunlop Wah was used generously. It was fun. both. but would I want my name on it? ummm, i don't think so....
 
How many pron movies use exrpessly cmposed music. It seems they simply use program stuff and tat is the end of it. And, I am not expert but, does the composer actually get credits. I guess they do. So the questions is, when the Feds bust the operation, are you part of it? It seems the ocmposer is too remote and could easily claim that he did not know what the music was used for. I guess your not a pronographer unless you think of yourself as one. Pronography is in the mind of the beholder.

The real problem is the subtle references in this thread to the incredibly cheesy music that goes with porn. Imgine being interviewed for a real music position, would you want to put "porn composer" on your resume?

Just some thoughts.

Last I heard it was legal to make porn movies. I'm assuming we are not talking about kiddie porn and snuff films.

Great question and topic! So, the big questio arises:

How do you get started in this field??? As we are pretty much aware, the porn industry isn't exactly accessible. Who are the contacts? Do you need to go through an agent?

i am happy to compose anything for anybody, if it is going to get me closer to making a living in music. i may change my mind later after dealing with different facets of the industry, but i'm happy to have a trial by fire on that count.

In most places, it's illegal to make them, but ok to sell them. Go figure how that works...

You won't get in any trouble for licensing your music to anything.
 
ok, then i'm just a friggin' hypocrit. but at least i admit it.

i go to church.

i look at porn.

i've got a pregnant wife... so I ain't getting it every day.

but i wouldn't do a porn score, because i think it would break any semblance of righteousness i might have left.

that same semblance of righteousness won't allow me to put mony into tobacco stocks while still going to the store to pick up smokes for my grandmother when she comes over

i'm so pathetic.
 
I assisted on a porn soundtrack once before. I do think I would rather have those girls on the couch than some of the groupie skanks that some bands bring.

In the end it is a personal choice for you to make. I would use a alias if I were to get credits.
