Dude I love the song and where would be a better place than the drive-in to go about that adventure. You have one hell of a great playing style which might be the answer to this question, but how do you record your bass? You have one of the coolest bass sounds I've heard.

Great song dude.

oh ya.

awsome tune duder. everything sounds clean/clear threw my home stereo setup, thou threw puter speakers the vocals are too loud, made my crapy speakers distort at lowish volume.

you still using "CAD Pro 7pc kit and an sm57 or pg57" ??? <from: Greg's general guide to rock drums for NEWBIES!>

rock on.

Hi

Great work as always. Excellent mix and playing. Not much to complain
as everything is perfect.

Pristine work!

Checked it out. I liked it - good gothic horror comedy, delivered in an authentic punk package. Voice is well suited to the genre.

Convincing Greg.

Thanks for checking it out man. :)

Sounds great dudener. Fun tune and a fantastic mix. Your vocals kinda seemed more upfront than usual and I might've lowered them just a smidge, but it sounds fine like this too. Just passing through to pay homage. Carry on...:)
Okay, thanks dude. :)
Your production is unreal. Everything sits perfectly to my ears. You've definitely nailed those drums too. They're HUGE. So is this song. Lovin' it, Greg. Looking forward to hearing more of your stuff.

After I posted that, my daughter told me she watched Rocky Horror Picture Show yesterday, so I thought of your song and decided to play it for her. She LOVED it!! She wants to put it on her iPod when we upload songs to it today so she can play it for her friends. I hope that's okay. :) What a fun fun song.

.........I see you have a page where you can pay to download some of your tunes. When you get this one up on a pay site, I'll download it again for sure.

No problem. Glad yall liked it. Thanks. :D

Great song and mix Greg! I had the same thought in mind about the 'Rocky Horror' sound-especially with the doo-wop 50's feel to it.

And are my ears fooling me? Is that a Tele added into the mix? I've found that an SG or Les Paul mixed with a Tele are a great combination, they both compliment each other so well.....

I cannot find any faults, dude!
Thanks Bud. No Tele in this one bro. I'm pretty anti-Tele. I hate em. These guitars are mostly a Gibson ES-335. The SG makes a few appearances during the choruses and stuff. The lead is the 335.

Thanks trump. The bass is a Squire P-Bass thru an Ampeg combo with a 57 in front. Nothing fancy at all. I mic the center of the speaker up close to get a lot of bite from the bass. I don't like sloppy, mushy bass sounds. I like em a little dirty yet midrangey with some attack. I used to play a stand-up bass in a psychobilly band a loooong time agp, so I tried to match that sound with an electric bass for this one. This is what I came up with. :p

Okay thanks. Yup, same mics on the drums. Same kit, although this snare is a 14x6 Supraphonic. I'm also using spaced pair overheads now instead of the recorderman setup.

Yeah, I heard a lot of high end and it didn't sound like a Strat-I forgot how much high end a 335 semi-hollowbody has-I need to play my Epi Sheraton more often.. The 335 sounds great-cool score, Greg...
About the only guitars I hate are the stupid Gibson Robot guitars and the horrible reverse flying 'V'.

Spaced pair... Hmmm.... Interesting. How far up are they, and how far apart from each other are they? (If you wouldn't mind divulging the secret to your drum-awesomeness.)

As we both know, neither of us is big fan of each other's composition style, but man ... you get sound. I rarely have anything to say about the quality of the production.

Always top shelf stuff ... and this is no different.

Well, it's my own bastardized version of spaced-pair. I drew an imaginary line through the center of the snare and the beater contact spot on the kick. That gives me an abstract right and left. The snare and kick are still center but the line runs diagonally across the kit. I stuck an overhead over the left half (which is kind of in front of my left shoulder), and stuck one over the right (which is out to the side of my right shoulder). With both pointing straight down, I tweaked the positioning until the capsules were equidistant from the snare. I started high, like 5 feet, and moved em closer with test runs. So far, the sweet spot is around 40 inches from the snare, with about 40 inches between the two mics. That goes against the 3:1 rule of spaced-pair miking, but I don't give a fuck. I don't have room to have my mics 10 feet apart. The toms sounded a little better with recorderman, but the overall kit and cymbal spreads sound much better with this spaced pair setup. I can dial in more hats or more ride by a simple tweak of the mics and still keep everything in phase.

Thanks Kev. I appreciate the listen and comments. :D

I love the lyrics! Reminds me of the Misfits meets the Dead Milkmen!

They go well with the poppy punk feel of the song.
ABSOLUTELY reminds me of the Dead Milkmen as well! Well done, Greg...the drums are, as usual, awesome. Especially in the ending. I thought your singing was fine, and totally suited the style of the song. Bass was very melodic, yours must have more than 3 frets, unlike mine.

Haha, yeah. I like busy bass. It's the only instrument I think I'm pretty good at. I'd probably be a pretty good live bassist. Too bad bass is so boring. Thanks for checking it out. :)

I took notice when you first posted this, but I saved it up to savor it. I knew I'd probably like it a lot. I'm glad I caught this one. Super job. Not a single nit.

Wig:)

Thanks for coming back to it. :D

Great work! If I ever made a horror film, this would be going when the credits roll! The only thing I heard was a few timing issues with the drums, but your talking to THE QUANTIZER! Able to turn humans to robots in a single bound! It's seriously really not enough to matter though.

Oh, and about the Zappa thing that somebody said (I'd never heard him before going to that link) it does resemble the song in a way.

"Too bad bass is so boring"
Hey! I love playing the bass. It's a really fun instrument.

-Adam.

Haha, thanks a lot Adam. Yeah there are a few timing blips in there, but I don't care. It's rock and roll! :D

I don't listen to Zappa or the Dead Milkmen so I don't totally get the comparisons, but whatever. I don't hate them or anything. It's better than being compared to awful shit like Korn or Killswitch Engage. :laughings:

Never heard of Killswitch Engage, but Korn can be good when they want to be.
