multiple firewire interfaces

Hey.

I am currently using a Delta-44, but am poised to switch to laptop recording. Due to budgetary constraints, I am considering downsizing to a 2-channel firewire interface like the Presonus Firepod or MBox.

I have a feeling i might miss the extra channels at some point and want to upgrade. my question is this: is it possible to connect multiple firewire interfaces simultaneously....can i buy a 2-channel now and then get another if i need more channels later on?

or is this a stupid, backwards solution.,

thanks

The firepod is 8 (analog) in & 8 out, so you won't be downsizing and both the Inspire and Firebox have 4 inputs. But yes you can daisy chain them together

If you get a Mac, it aggregates devices automatically.

Well, not automatically, you do have to do some adjustments, but after that it does work ok.

thanks all. looks like a good way to go then is to buy a small device and daisy chain if neccesarry. its down to an mbox, firebox or motu 828 i think.

I'd pick the 828 (but make sure it's the MKII), but I'd probably steer you more towards the 8Pre instead. IMHO, ADAT is a more interesting tech for expandability going forward, and having 8 channels at x2 lightpipe speed is a good thing, IMHO.
