Multiple audio devices w/ HS2004 or ?

Greetings,

I've been using a Delta 1010LT or USB OmniStudio with HS2004 for quite
a while. Now I want to use them at the same time (for more I/O). HS2004
will not let me enable all the (ASIO) drivers at once.

Does Sonar (any version) allow this? How about other software?

For some reason I recall the ASIO standard won't allow multiple devices.

I could be wrong, but have you tried it using WDM drivers.
 
It is not up to the host DAW. HS will work with whatever you have installed.

The problem lies with the audio interface drivers. If they don't allow for clock sync via the driver, you will need to sync via SPDIF clock.

I would not recommend using 2 different soundcards with different driver and, in your case. 2 different busses (USB and PCI). There will be no way to sync the internal clocks on both interfaces. It would be a different story if you were using 2 Delta series PCI cards as the drivers allow up to 4 cards to be chained together.
 
Thanks for the help. I tried to use WDM drivers but for some reason
The 1010 doesn't show up in that mode. Only the built in MB sound
card is available. The 1010 does show up in MME driver mode, but I
don't want to use that.

To be honest, I hadn't give much thought to synchronizing the devices.
I'm recording live gigs and as such there are numerous other compromises
being made. I do have another 1010LT card in a PC at home though.
I'll try a pair of them in the same box.

Redux

I put the pair of 1010LTs in the gig recording box (1.8GHz P4).
Seems to record okay. Playback is pushing the disk meter into
the orange and red occasionally. I tweaked some buffer settings
and that seemed to help. Synched the cards up using SPDIF in/out.
Got 16 tracks now. Life is good. I'll road test it this weekend.

You shouldn't have to sync with SPDIF - the Delta drivers take care of that.
 
I did it 'cos the manual says (referring to the M-Audo control panel):

"...The selection “Multi-card Sync” will remain grayed out until a second Delta PCI card (of which
there are a variety) is installed in the system. When you wish to synchronize two (or more, up
to four) Delta cards, select Multi-card Sync on the second and successive cards. Then, select
S/PDIF as your master clock, and connect the S/PDIF output of the first card to the S/PDIF input
of the second card, etc. This ensures that when the application goes into record or playback, it
waits until all audio ports are open before it commences with recording or playback of audio."

It might work okay without synching them. It positively will work better than what I originally had in mind (1010LT & USB device). Tomorrow it goes out on the gig for a real world test.
