Hello all,

A couple weeks ago I bought a second delta 44 to go with the one I got a couple years ago. Anyways, this weekend I tried to install it with no luck. I installed the the drivers off the included CD, like I did the first time. That didn't work, it seemed to mess with original Delta 44. So I installed the latest drivers out on the M-Audio site. Now my original card seems to work fine for playing mp3s, assigning tracks to it in software, but not my standalone vst synth. The new card doesn't seem to be working at all. When I assign it to play mp3s using the "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the windows control panel, I don't hear any playback, and I don't see any playback on the monitor mixer also the program seems to almost hangup during playback. Same thing happens if I assign a track to playback using one of the channels on the new card in sonar. I don't seem to get anything from the new card going in or out, but again, the original card is working pretty much as it was before the new one was installed. In the "M-audio Delta Control Panel" both cards are there and have the same settings.

What's going wrong? The drivers appear to be installed correctly, is there any chance the hardware itself is messed up? Is there any way to test that? Though I don't think that is the case. I was under the impression when I bought it that multiple Delta cards work quite well together. Is there anyone who had a similar problem and found a solution? I guess I'll try tech support in a bit. Thanks for any tips if you have any.

btw, if it makes a difference, my comp specs are windows xp home, amd64 x2 3800+, 2 gigs ram.

Both seem to be using the 5.10.0.5051 driver. In the M-Audio Control Panel under the Hardware Settings, I have 3 options in the MultiTrack Driver Devices, and those are "Single and In-Sync", "Independent", and "Multiple Card Sync". I assume that's what you mean by the 'Enable Multi Sync', if so I have tried changing all three. Still not working.

Though, I don't think its a syncing problem, I just don't think the hardware is working. In the hardware device tab, I enabled and disabled both cards and the one and the one that works works, and the other just doesn't. Would it be worth it to try the older drivers on the M-Audio site, or should I just take the card back?

Thanks.

Do both cards show up in device manager?

You shouldn't need to go back to the older drivers. Have you tried pulling the 'good' card and see if your new one works on its own? If it doesn't that would pretty much confirm it's a hardware issue

Well, I'm quite reluctant to pull the working card (the old one), only because I should be studying for my finals so I just don't have the time to unhook my comp. I did disable the good card in the device manager and the card in question still does not work. Is that good enough, or should I actually pull it? Could it be a motherboard issue? Actually I don't think so, because it seems to be detected and such just fine. Well, I don't know. Anyways, thanks for the replies Bulls Hit.

Have you got a spare slot to try the new card in? You could have an IRQ conflict

hey buddy....got my second delta 44 yesterday....it works a treat! (and together with the other unit!). Like BH said....try another slot (when u have time....may actually save you time come to think of it!!) TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED! REMOVE ALL DELTA S/W! ..........RE-SLOT!.....RE-INSTALL ONLY THE .5051 DRIVERS.....GOOD LUCK!

you cant have multiple anything for windows sounds. what does the asio driver do?

YEAH...I GUESS I WAS RESPONDING TO USES OTHER THAN PLAYING BACK WINDOWS SOUNDS....MAYBE A STUDIO SET UP.
MMMMM....KOOKEY KOOL.

Okay, so my motherboard is the Asus A8N-SLI, so I only have 3 PCI slots. The card that works is sitting in the middle slot, and the non-working card was in the top slot. So I moved it down to the bottom slot... and guess what... the case gets in the way of the cable... FUCK! Okay whatever.

So I placed it back in the top slot. Is it possible to change the IRQ whatever it is, or is that purely hardware and there's nothing that can be done to change it?

Thanks for the replies!

Well you Just had your PC open so why didn"t you Take your Good Card out and Try the Questionable Card by it"s self??

You also do not need to Install the Drivers again after installing the second Card as they both Run off the Same Drivers so you do not have to install them Twice.....

You are the First Person I have heard of who has had a Problem running 2 delta Cards at the Same Time.....

Good Luck

Man you're giving up too easy. You're not going to let a little PC case get in the way of your musical dreams are you? Leave the case off while you try it in the bottom slot. If it still doesn't work, at least you've eliminated that possibility

Yes, it appears to be working in the bottom most PCI slot. I'm a fool, I should have just tested it out when I had it in there. (stubborn and impatient I guess) Anyways, the PC case gets in the way of the cable plug at the back. I don't really feel like slotting my case so I guess I need to find a male to female DB15 cable with a low profile hood (shell) on the connector. Anyone know where to get such a thing? Thanks for the help.
