Multiband compressing songs

Has anyone tried this before?

For those inconsistant bands who record their EPs or something, and their playing and sound levels are simply all over the place. Each song has a totally different tonal quality than the other.

Would this work: after mixdown, put the stereo mixes back into the DAW, one song after the other, back to back. Run those tracks into one multiband compressor to even out the bass for all the songs, for example.

Would this work, or am I not going to get any beneficial gain from this.

PS: You would probably say "just try it yourself and listen". Problem is... I won't have access to the studio for this week because someone else is using it. I don't have any audio software what-so-ever at home so I can't really test it.

you'll have to do each song individually and adjust the multiband compressor settings as each demands. but yes, you can use a multiband compressor I suppose. EQ is also an option.
