Muddy mix between bass guitar/kick drum

It always happenes. heres an example very short clip. I was wondering: on the EQ, what do you tend to boost, lower, for the kick. thanks

I hate directing people to articles, as it annoys the F*** out of me when other people do it, but Blue Bear has an excellent article on this. The art of which is refered to as subtractive EQ. The basic idea is you are boosting very little, but rather taking competing frequencies away. Check it out.

haven't listened to your clip, but read bluebear's article. ;-)

secondly, try applying a highpass filter to either or both of the tracks. that low, low end always clashes between the two and muddies things up--remove it if you don't really need it.

in a nutshell, you'll need to carve out a space for the kick's thump and click in and around the space for the bass guitar, and that always takes some trial and error to learn how to do.
