Watch out because these mic's have an LED warning light

I should have used a LED. Given how much I love LEDs, it is somewhat surprising that I didn't. Actually not strictly true, the as yet unbuilt MSH-3 does use a LED, but it is likely to stay on the drawing board for a while :(

Envelope? My MSH-1s came in a 4x4x4" box. That must be how he's cutting costs! :D

I'm just curious as to why you can buy two seperate MSH-1A mic's for $19 each, coming to a total of $38.

But then a matched pair costs $44...

I am fairly new to recording, but what's the difference?

I'm guessing it's for the extra time it takes to match the microphones. It is a fairly standard industry practice to charge extra for "matched" pairs. Most manufacturers charge MUCH more than $6 ;)

It's the time involved, and also the fact that the capsules sort of follow a normal distribution with respect to sensitivity. That is about 60% match fairly easily, the next 30% with a little trouble, but not too bad. Then I'm left with 10% that are on the high or low extremes and practically speaking, won't find a mate. They are perfectly good mics in every other respect, so you could say they are sold at a discount.

if these end up being to my liking for other applications i try, ill probably take another pair early next week

When are ya gonna start offering matched triples and superstructure for the fabulous MSH-1A Decca Tree?

Got em yesterday. Just funny to see such a small package with two mics. Can't wait to try them out.

I just got mine and tried them out on a tenor and alto sax for a band, they sound great! I put one on the top near his hands, and the other at the horn, magic!

Yeah they sound very nice. The guitarist is very, very good. Those mic's sound very great for recording acoustic insturments. What piece of music is that?
