I'm sure MSH has thought about this, but in case he hasn't...
There are a ton of inexpensive "drum mic sets" available, from big and small manufacturers alike, but frankly, most of them don't sound very good.
So, if MSH could create a great sounding drum mic set and sell it at a reasonable price, I think he'd have a major hit on his hands.
Maybe a basic set of four mics, clips, stereo bar and a case to cover the kick, the snare and stereo overheads would be the place to start. Then offer recommendations about which additional mic(s) to buy to cover the other drums (rack toms, floor toms, whatever) if needed.
The physical size of these mics make them perfect for drum mic'ing, and none of the cheap drum mic sets can touch them for good sound...
