I just bought some Yorkvilles YSM1P's, and though I intend to run them off of my PC, I was wondering if I could run them out of my stereo outs on the MR8, since they are powered monitors?

Probably a "duhhh, why couldn't you", question, but it never hurts to ask!!!

Thanx

Yes you can. And to add probably a "duh" answer. Don't run them when you are recording or you will record what comes through them also.

kdgospel,

Do you have YSM's too(or any other powered monitors)? If so, what are the "optimal" settings for volumes on the PC (output from computer)?

I have the strangest fear of hooking up new gear if I have the slightest doubt about anything. I don't remember what the input impedance rating for the YSM's were, but it seemed an odd number...

Here it is; 10k ohms, input impedance, it's greek to me though...

You'd think there would be a difference between a 'line level' signal, and that which comes out of the pc soundcard/to speakers. It has to carry more juice than the line level, right?

relief

I contacted Yorkville, they said it was okay. Which is about all they said, no explanation or anything, no edu-ma-cation.

I should be relieved, but I like complaining far too much.

And I was just telling a friend last night that the human condition was to over-exagerate, complain, and be hypocritical!

The Irony...

I have everything on my pc set at about 1/2 way in between max and minimum. I then adjust my monitors with the controls on them.
