there must be a way that I'm not seeing to export tracks to a computer via the USB out. I am using a macbook 2.16 2GRAM 120GHD and Logic Pro. I want to export drum tracks to logic to mix them and start recording bass guitar and piano tracks over them. I was lead to believe the fostex would be the easiest way to go but any time I pull a WAV file from the fostex Logic and media players wont read it.

thanks a ton

I don't use Logic... but all the fostex files are is .wav files. I can't imagine any program not being able to read them. I never used the Fostex software, just plug the MR-8 into the computer, hit USB mode, and drag the files onto the desktop. Then import them to your program.

Is that what you're doing?

I re-read your post. Are you trying to import the trax to logic without copying them off the mr-8 firsT?

I have been all over looking for answers

yes and those files would not play on any program at all.

nope that would not only be dumb but impossible. haha. I would prefer that you all kick me off the message board in that situation.

here's what i have figured out (which aint much) there's a program included with the fostex apparently called wav manager or wav runner or something and it's supposed to transfer and convert the files from the fostex HD to my mac HD so I'm gonna play with that option tonight and see how it turns out.

The program is called Wave Manager. It is on the Fostex website. If you don't use it, the only other way is to make sure that you connect the MR-8 to your computer via USB first, then put the MR-8 into USB mode. Then look at your drives, the computer should assign the MR-8 a drive letter. Once it does that, you can go into the MR-8 and pull your tracks out. Be advised that the MR-8 doesn't assign them track numbers within itself, only file numbers. You may have to play each .wav in a media player to figure out which track is which.

Oh, and don't go into the folder called "2mix".
