My record button is sinking into the MR-8. It's like the left side of the Record/Stop/Play button strip is loose.

I took the case off, but the buttons are buried under an interference shield and some boards. Anyone dug all the way down to the buttons?

Thanks.

DONT take it apart, you have voided your warrenty.

my fist unit, the yes button pushed in, you have to send ot back.....
nothing inthere to fix

I didn't notice any seals breaking, indicating I openned the machine, but it's a year old, anyway.

...just looks like quite a few screws inside to get to the buttons.

With these problems surfacing, have you considered filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission against Fostex for marketing defective equipment?
A few years ago I had the unhappy experience of an iomega zip drive dying on me two weeks after the warrenty had expired. I found out from a friend who repairs computers that iomega was deliberately marketing the defective drive believing that if it crashed after the warranty expiration, people would simply purchase a new one to retain access to their data.
It seems that enough people complained to the FTC that they went after iomega and to settle they agreed to replace for free any defective zip drive purchased within two years prior to and two years following the date of the agreement. Mine was purchased within the final six months of the agreement, so I qualified for free replacement.
My friend recommended after I got the replacement that I switch to a CD burner. So I did.
