hey-
my mr-8 is not working.. anyone have any suggestions.. or is it just dead??
here's the deal
when i turn it on sometimes it just flickers the lights and doesn't even come on at all- sometimes it comes on and i start recording or whatever and then it's almost like it freezes and then i'll turn it off and then it will stay on for a couple seconds and then turn off-
it's acting really weird.. anyone have any suggestions?
I've tryed taking the card out and putting it back in- i tryed using batteries- i tryed a different power source but nothing is working..
thanks anyway!

Whoa man, don't sound good for the home team. I would try an e-mail to Fostex for direction. Good luck.

woah
ok
now... get this-
everything seemed to work until today right? and see we were going to record today- had it all planned.. and then if you read my first post everything went wrong...well check this out
We thought about it alot and talk a bunch and called some people and looked at our options right? and wasted the whole afternoon/night- but then we decided to open it up just to check in case a wire or two was loose and just look inside and what not..
we open it up.. take it apart a tad but leave all cords together..
then turn it on.. and what do you know.. it works.. so we used that hour that we had left and we recorded some stuff.. crazy huh?
yeah i know it's not good for it.. with static electricity and what all could happen to it.. but woah
( Learned something new today.. even electronics need to breathe.)

thanks..

Cool, sounds like you may have tweeked a loose solder joint or something.

warrenty

turntabilist is right, the problem will probably happen again, not much inside of one of those things is there...

almost sounds like it could be the power source,id get a replacement, ive heard of a few weird things that happen to these units, left and right stereo channels being backwards and stuff like that

yeah that's what we were thinking- something with the power source- but we'll see
-because we did get it from musicians friend as a scratch and dent item ( we didn't want to wait until may to get it because we needed to record before than)
so we'll probablly send it back.. and maybe once we put it together it will work.. you never know.. but it hasn't froze up.. or lost power since then.. so we'll see how it goes.

and it probablly will lose it's waranty with fostex but if we send it back and get a different one- every thing should turn out good

if that was a scratch and dent from MF, I would have sent it back at the very first sign of badness.

yeah i know- but we need to record.. like we have dead lines and what not that we have to meet for our EP...otherwise everything won't work out-

so that's why

scratch and dent

I hope its not the one i sent back, the right cursur and yes button caved in, one i have that they replaced it with is from scratch and dent also, no problems yet. I called them and asked what to do, i also needed the recorder but didnt want to wait till may, he said oh wait a minute, i have one right here. Might work for you too.

we did call them right away.. but they didn't have any in the scratch and dent- but i'm sure that changes at least weekly.. just have to call them today or another day to check
thanks!

No, I mean I would have sent the thing back. Whether they had one to replace it or not. I would rather have my money back.
