MPC 2kxl Question??

Sup I got a couple of question to whoever own a mpc.

1. How you guys master your beat? Like using reverb echo so and so. I know there is an effect board for it but Im broke as of now. Do you record track by track to a program like cool edit and add effects there? Or is there anything on the the mpc where I miss out on in the manual.

2. Ok when I load a loop to the mpc how do I make it where when i hit a pad and when I let go the loop stop? Everytime I hit a pad the loop plays all the way through even when I let go of the pad. I know there is something about changing to note off but I can't find how to do it.

3. Can somebody explain what the hell is step mode?? I just don't get it.

Help me out yall. I read the manual over and over and I stll dont get some parts everything else I got down.

Thanks lazi I been to that site. It help answer some question but I still don't get it? I just wanted to know from someone that can put it in a basic way. I guess because I cant think cause I'm too damn confuse. Even though I read the manual and the site over and over I'm still dumbstruck. I know its probably a very simple question to yall but I need some help still. In the meantime I'm going to go read the manual over and thanks lazi.

Follow me now.

1.Multitracking into a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of some sort (software or hardware) is the best bet. But, mixing tracks using the MPC is possible. You have two (or three) options. You have the track Velocity (vel) and then you have the MPC's mixer screen. You use the track Vel. to change the volume of the indiviual sequencer tracks. You can use the MPC's internal mixer to adjust the volume level and the pan on the individual pads ( sunds you have asigned to pads). the third way is to adjust the level ove the sample in the sample edit section. Not by my MPC or the manual right now so somethings may be worded wrong and I can't give specifics.

2. Okay you have 3 options on how the MPC plays back the sounds assigned to each pad. POLY, MONO, AND OFF. You want OFF. Go to the pad assignment screen the select (like the second button where it takes you to pitch adjustment, filters, and other shit. If you see POLY select that and turn you wheel til you see OFF.

Best bet is to just fuck with the MP for a few days and don't worry about making the hitsjust yet. Just drop some basic stuff like drum loops. Add see how you can freak it.

select almost everything and hit the OPEN button. Lots of things hidden behind that one.

Add see how you can freak it. ........ --------------------------------------------------- yea bro he's right when i got mine about a 2 years ago i was the same way. i lots weeks of sleep , up nite & day tring to figure it out just sit with the machine and start a new learning process cause once you figure it your life will change it's like going to school and learnig some thing new, im still learning that why im on this site to get some more help i still read the manual here and there, wait till you get into midi with this that's something else ,, just keep at it don't go by the manual all the time u need to figure things out on your own bro.. .dont worry u'll get it... peace ...... ede ----------------------------------------------------
 
That's how I learned, just mess with it, don't get upset, I did, and when I did it just made me more confused.

Do you have the 8 outputs or just the L/R

1.) If you have the 8 outputs, hold down shift/mixer and assign your sound to an output. I would assign each one to #1, mute all tracks but the one that I want to record, sync it up to my computer and record. Mute the first track and unmute the second and record etc. That is if you don't have effects in your MPC, but even if you did, I would still do that.

2.) You can't, when I hit the pad and I want the loop to stop, I hold down the shift/trim buttons to stop it and then hit the main screen to take me back.

3.) Step mode is used if you want to change the sound of a recorded track anywhere during the playback, weather it's midi, or analog. Go to a track, make sure it's not muted and then press the step button. Arrow over to the time clock and rotate the wheel until u see teh data come up. From there, you can change the data, mess around with it, you will open up into a whole new set of ideas, I promise you
