I am trying to connect my MPC 2000 to cakewalk pro through the lexicon soundcard. However when I set up the midi recording on cakewalk pro all I get is the first four clicks and thats it. The first four clicks however, sound like the first note on the track thats about to play. But the track does not play. I have tried setting the mpc to slave and cakewalk as master and vise versa but I have had no luck. How should I set things up so that I can record my tracks from the MPC2000 using midi onto cakewalk.
If anybody can help me PLEASE HELP.

First of all, are you trying to transfer a sequence from the MPC into Cakewalk, or are you trying to record an audio loop from the MPC into Cakewalk?

Using Cakewalk as the slave to the MPC should work in either case, but be sure the settings on both your midi interface and Cakewalk are set to midi clock - there are probably filters in one or both places that could be the cause of your problem...

And remember that midi is a serial control language that carries no audio information. If you are trying to transfer audio into Cakewalk you need to match the tempos and plug in the audio outs of your MPC into the audio ins of the computer interface.

And welcome to the board!

In the future, one post in the most appropriate forum usually gets the best response - posting in multiple forums is called 'crossposting' and is not cool.

thanx SSSCIENTIST.
what I was trying to do was transfer sound and I was not aware that with midi it does not do that. I thought I had seen before another site a person do that with midi.
and sorry about multi posting
