MP3's on mypace

When I compare the quality of my songs to others, mine seems way more "mp3-ish." I'm not talking about actual quality determined by the equipment/engineering skills. My stuff sounds like really low-quality mp3's.

Myspace automatically dumbs down their mp3s to I think 96 kbps. Something like that. I uploaded them at 128. Do you think I'd be better off uploading them at a higher rate? Such as 320? Even though they all go down to 96, a 320 kbps song that was converted to 96 kbps is going to sound better than a 128kbps song that was converted to 96 right?

try doing it straight to 96. maybe your software will make a nicer compression than what myspace does. if you convert to 128, then it has to get re-compressed to 96, it probably would sound worse since the track is getting compressed twice. if you render the mixdown straight to 96, then you're only compressing it once so maybe it will sound a bit cleaner? i'm just guessing about this though, but give it a shot.

is myspace really worth the hassle? i put up a couple of tunes there cuz i have some friends that have pages there.....but only one has been playable and the other seems to be "proccesing" still after a month now.....i gave up on that site...not to mention the you have to decifier the profile edit,,,,,,

I've asked the same question before. It depends on if MySpace reconverts MP3s even if they're already at 96. I don't think they do.

I would upload them at 96 and see what they sound like compared to one uploaded at 128 or 320.
 
Post your own player.You can upload up to 320 mp3 and it will retain its quality and it will load and play without the long wait.
 
You can upload your own player on Myspace? I would be very interested in that
 
im quite sure myspace goes to 64kbps.. absolutely destroys everything..

from my knowledge, i have no knowledge of putting your own player on...

friggin myspace.
 
It's either 96 or 64.

PureVolume is even worse. 64 for free accounts and 96 if you pay... :confused:

Unless they changed it since then.
