Just spent a year recording a CD all by myself, and unforunately had to do everything on headphones. It was quite a challenge! mp3s are now up, I'd love to hear your feedback. I'd like to say thanks again to anyone at HR.com/BBS who has given me advice/tips in the past few months.

Many thanks!

All pasts are clear enough to make out.
The kick drum is boomy at times. Drums could be louder.

Good work.

Brilliant Chris.

Love your energy -- and attitude. Vocals could have been brought out more in most of those mixes. But hey, you've got years up your sleeve to sort that out. And I've heard zillions of clearer mixes, commercial or not, with far less heart.

Good luck.

Hey again Eck. See what I mean? - to me, on most system the drums sound too LOUD! but fill up space. whereas to you they are too quiet. Mixing is very strange, I can't wait to buy some reference monitors :)

Thanks Aspiring, that was a really nice comment :D

If either of you have music you'd like me to hear, I'll be happy to return the favour.

The reason the drums might sound too loud to you on most systems is too much lo end on them. That would make them take over in the mix and hide other parts of the mix. Or it could just be that you prefer drums to be quieter than me. :)

Ahh. Nah I prefer loud bastard drums, that's how I wanted it. And yeah that's what they seem to have done, "cloud the mix", when really in my headphones I had it all exactly as I wanted. Ah well, reference monitors will sort that out right? :)

Nice work.
I'm listening on h/phones so the mix sounds fine - I have to admit I don't like the lead tone on Paperweight though. All else is ace.

you should tighten up the bass drum,it eats a lot of low end...after you do that you could put whole mix louder...i don't understand the lyrics...that's not good ...

Thanks rayc, haha fair enough I guess, it was okay to me. I needed to use different settings to contrast the guitars, but thanks :)

KochoBASS - does it? thanks. It actually sounds kinda quiet to me... though these are all things I am gonna work really hard on my next CD when I hopefully have reference monitors.

What lyrics don't you understand? I will kindly explain them line for line for you, as they all make perfect sense. I just hate dead obvious lyrics, I like metaphors/hidden meanings.

:D
