MP3 or just me?

Though I don't normaly make a habit of it, I must confess, I have downloaded a couple of MP3 from sites like Napster. Ok, here's my question, is it just me or do these songs seem like the mix is all off? For example, quite a few seem to have the vocals way too far back in the mix and the guitars over power everything. I haven't burned any to check on my stereo so....is it my moniters or the Mp3?

ya know, the quality of mp3s are slightly less than cd quality but the difference is not such a dif that ordinary ears(average music listeners) can decifer it.......

However, the mix should not be any different then the cd unless the person who encoded the file from cd to mp3 tampered with the file with an EQ........and It's my guess that most of the mp3's on the net are not tampered with in that nature....

IMHO it's you or your monitors or something else...but the mix of an mp3 being off can not be explained by just the quality of mp3s in general...

Fair enough. I'll burn it and listen to it on another system.But to be honest with you, I hope it sounds like sh@t there too! Thanks I'll let you know
