Hi Guys.
This may seem like a rather stupid question but Ive been thinking about moving my vst instruments onto a portable hard drive, And I was wondering how to do it?
I thourght that by doing this it would stop samples being loaded into my DAW aswell as audio been written to the same drive, It seems to make sence that it would improve proformance?
I would like to know if possible what would be the best way to do this? if I would need to restore my computer to wipe all the installed vsts off and install them again but onto the external drive, or if I could just move the sample liberaries onto the external drive, this poses another question. what should I do with the .dll files? place them in my cubase vst folder or onto the drive and then tell cubase to look on the external to find the .dll's.
Also I was thinking about buying a new external hard drive for this purpose, but being a bit straped for cash would the WD 320gb hard drive powered by usb do the job? or should I wait to buy a dedicated drive? suggestions?
much appriciated for the help
Ben
