I finally ordered Sonar3 this weekend, so I'm making the jump from PA9. Does anyone have general words of advice before I install Sonar when it arrives?
PA9 to S1 was a pretty good leap, and while S1 to S2 was marginal, S2 to S3 was also a pretty good leap. Slip Editing from S1 and Bus Routing from S3 are tremendous tools, but they will take some getting used to (as will the loss of the Audio View).
You have a fairly good learning curve ahead of you, but it will be well worth it in the end. PA9 is a good foundation, but there are lots of new tricks and toys in Sonar.
No particular words of wisdom, except remember you can always come here for help and advice.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll have questions as I get my feet wet.
I went for the Producer edition. And it'll be loaded on my newer P4 2.4 w/XPpro. I only have one drive on it for now, I'll be picking up a 2nd for audio soon.
So they did away with the audio view? I do a lot of my own vinyl-to-disc transfers and zoom in on waveforms a lot. Did they lump in a comparable view to use?

You do it all in Track View now. The waveform appears directly in the track, and it has comparable zoom features. Just have to break the habit of double clicking to bring up audio view. Took me a couple of months to break that habit.
Actually, that's one of the beauties of Sonar. You can essentially do all your audio work directly in Track View (unless you are like moskus and find some perverted fascination with Console View).
BTW, the pencil tool is also gone. I still miss that a bit. However, it ties in with Sonar's approach of non-destructive editing for everything. For the most part, you should be able to do all your editing and changes without ever affecting the underlying wave file.
okay, has anyone had problems registering through Cakewalk's site? It keeps telling me my number is not valid, even though I ordered direct from them. Thanks.
