i've been considering one of the motu firewire interfaces, but have heard rumblings of problems between motu's and pc's. anyone care to comment? also, would a firewire motu and vegas be friendly to one another?

thanks!

My setup consists of a 24i and sonar, a little far from yours but it might say something for motu-pc compatibility. The 24i connects to the pc via "audiowire," a cable from the 24i to the pci324 card, it actually looks much like a firewire cable, but I dont know anythign about the specifications. I have had no issues other than that the provided installer was not compatible with windows xp so i had to got to motu.com and download the windows xp installer, simple enough. I'm not sure of the compatibility of the motu firewire products but my pci based motu works great with windows.

I have an 828 and it is flawless on a notebook and a desktop. The original drivers were lously but the latest ones you can download are rock solid. I recorded 18 tracks simultaniously once on my old Sony VIAO notebook and it never broke a sweat.

BTW, my 828 has been retired in favor of an RME HDSP system for reasons that have nothing to do with the 828's performance. It is for sale in the for sale forum.

One thing about Motu, especially with PCs. Theri suport is non-existant. Won't ansewr emails or you spend all day on the phone.

I have the 2408mkII and it has been great, but there was a lot of stuff I couldn't get from a not well written manual. I never got one answer from them on any question!
