I need an audio interface, I'm running Sonar 8.......I'm debating between 2 different MOTU units, the 8Pre and the Ultralite mk3.......no analog mixer.....seems like the 8Pre would be better using Sonar because you shouldn't need all the outs that the ULite has if you are mixing "in the box", and also no need for effects returns since Sonar has that for you also......I'm pretty much a newbie though when it comes to Sonar, ran version 3 for a couple of months years ago and just now getting back into recording and have Sonar 8.
