I bought the 2408mk3 mainly for its expansions options. And it has worked out well for that reason. Though now im pretty set on my setup and kind of wish i was using an RME that didnt have as many features. But something down the road could change my mind.
I dont use the analog converters because im mostly using the ADAT lightpipes. But when i do use them they are pretty decent. But i bet RME has better converters in that respect.
On the other hand, im using a PC and i really havnt had any problems with stability. Times when i might have thought their were minor stability issues in the 2408mk3 ended up being different issues. Right now all the minor issues are worked out (all non related to the 2408mk3) and its all working flawlessly with my UAD1.
So its a pretty good toss up especially since your using mac.
