Hi im new, well i have been giving recording ago for a few months and im starting to get a few good results but im really confused

I REALLY want to know why when i go into my local music store and i play a song on a daw and then motorised faders (on something like tascam 1884) start going up and down. What are they doing? What are they controling and how do you make them go up and down like that?

I was going to ask at the store but i felt to stupid so i just left :o
Please help.!!

Well, faders on any mixing console usually control the volume of their corresponding track/channel. Chances are that the track you were listening to had volume automation data (changes in volume) and the faders were moving accordingly.

Or..... it could just be in "Demo Mode", moving faders and blinking lights just to look cool and hypnotize you into buying it!

Oooooohh... pretty lights :)

I have a yamaha aw2816 w/ motorized faders and I love it. The automation lets me nail a mix every time. although it can get a little complex starting a mix. When you are ready, that's the way to go.
