i am a amateur musician . i have a psr2000 which i have been using for past 9 years for live gigs and also in my home studio for recording audio aswell as a midi controller for sequencers and vsts i have. now i am planning to get a new keyboard as i am so bored with the sounds / styles and capabilities of psr2000 . but i intend to keep the psr and dont want to sell.my budget now is 2000$ approx +/-. i have zeroed in on 3 keyboards tyros 3, pa2xpro, motif xs6. but now i am in a dilemma whether to choose a arranger liketyros3 or pa2xpro or go for the biggie workstation xs6 motif. in india(chennai) there is no guitar centre or a authorised dealership for both yamaha/ korg where i can try my hand at the keyboards. there is a selling point where i can get the keyboard which will buy me the keyboard if i decide on which one i can take. i intend to use the keyboard for live gigs (i believe an arranger would be more suitable but people say the arpeggios in motif would be fantastic for this) and also for home studio purposes. can some one help me making a good decision on which one to choose ?
thanks in advance

Yo DrashKum:

May the Great Elephant God, Ganash {sp} make you enjoy:

Seems, as I read your post, you are FAR away and lacking a local Vendor in your home-area,
India. However, you can use E-mail to help you get some ideas.

Send a post to brendan_murphy@sweetwater.com.

He is very knowledgeable and also can connect to a FREE techie section at Sweetwater. You can ask about the pro/cons of what you are trying to buy and untilize with your studio/music/new work, et. cet.

You DON'T have to buy anything; you can get information. I guess you would have to look in your homeland area and try to buy "closer" to where you live to save the cost of shipping from so far away.

At any rate, good luck. I use the Yamaha Motif, older version of the "x" unit. I have 61 keys. There is "enough" stuff to learn to use that will take you about 110 years or so. I don't know too much about the Korg but it will probably work in a similar fashion with similar cost; however, the Yamaha may be a bit more expensive.

I just bought a motif xs8 and oh man i love it to death. My wife is getting jealous that I don't spend enough time with her and spending it with this stupid keyboard/piano. Shes about to kick me to the curb....jk lol.
The arpegios in the motif are friggin sick. I'm not a pro player, so the arpegios make me sound like I'm a pro...LOL.
But sound quality wise....the motif is way better than any other keyboard in the market right now. The acoustic pianos and guitars are awesome.
Again....this is just my opinion.

I totally agree with you qrs! I just got my Yamaha Motif XS8 about 2 weeks ago. This keyboard has some really really great sounds! I love the "Vintage 74" Rhodes...fantastic!

For me after having a K2000 for 10 years (I hated the sounds on this board) the XS8 blows away all other boards that I have tried!

I am amazed with the XS8 and it is quite simple to navigate right out of the box!

Cheers,

JT
