I just got back from the music store and I have to say that I am very impressed with the sounds that the Motif has. The soundclips on their website don't do it justice. I also found that it was a little easier for me to get around in than the Triton or the Fantom. I guess this just shows that you can't make many decisions just based on what is said on the net. You have to go and try things out for yourself because I was bent on getting a Fantom because all I was hearing was that it is the easiest workstation to work with. so I guess I will be working towards getting a Motif.

Now on to my question though. With the Motif, how would I be able to get the sounds to my computer so that I could burn my completed work (I know that with the Triton I would have had a built in burner and with the Fantom I woudl be able to send the audio file through my usb port [The Motif has a usb port too, but, to my knowledge it is only used to send MIDI files not .wav])? Will I have to have a "pro" sound card and recording software and just record my finised work while it is playing from the Motif?

Both the Motif Classic and ES have resampling capabilities which allow you to mix down a sequenced arrangment to a WAV file. Of course you would need to have additional RAM installed to do this.

www.motifator.com is the best resource for Motif users and goes into great detail explaining the resampling process.

All Motif's also have a smart media port which is easily read by any Windows PC. That is how I transfer WAV files to and from my Motif 6. The ES adds the capability to connect an external USB HD or CD burner to transfer WAV files as well.
