I Bleed Analog!
Ok I went to look at that large pile of recorders; and brought 4 home. First I passed on the Revox A77s... they were all nonfunctional. If anyone wants/needs them for parts PLEASE let me know, I would gladly send them on for the cost of the shipping.
I did grab the two Studer-Revox PR99s - I found a manual for them and one of them did power on , hoping to come up with one functional unit out of the parts. Some pics of one of the PR99s:
Looks like it is going to be a major project on these.
The Teac A-3070 turned out to be in fair shape - you can see from the pics that the "stainless" front panel is heavily stained. The heads look quite good (haven't figured home to get a good picture of them yet, the shroud doesn't seem to be removable and they are WAY up in there! Unit powers on and teh amp section works well, only a little bit of static from the pots. The transport is anotehr story - the capstan spins, but that belt is all but gone, the other belts look just as bad; so I guess I will be callings TEAC/TASCAM to see if those parts are still available. See pics below:
Lastly I found the recorder below, a Sony TC-650:
Haven't had any time to check on this unit, appears to be a strictly consumer deck - maybe it can replace my dying Pioneer RT-707.
