Still getting used to Sonar 2.0 xl, which is my first foray into the world of pc recording. After I lay down some tracks, I find I can't pan anything! panning left or right simply lowers the volume. Also, I try to record a stereo track from my drum machine, but it won't let me. everything is mono. I think this all stems from the fact that when I open up sonar from my desktop, a little message pops up and says something like " one or more soundcards do not support stereo, defaults set to mono" But you see I have a Soundblaster Live 5.1 soundcard. When I'm just listening to my input, it's in stereo. After I record, stereo-no-mo. I'm sure it's something I just dont understand yet, but going from a Boss br8 to a computer (which I got a week ago) with sonar is a major change. I'm used to sliders, knobs, and buttons. I really want to learn Sonar because it seems like such a powerful tool.

The problem is probably in the sound blaster software.
I'm not familiar with soundblaster but does it have it's own control panel?Check your pan settings there.

My best advice....
Ask Santa for a better soundcard and be a good boy.:D

Don't wory, it's usual problem with Creative's driver. If you use Windows XP, roll back the driver to Microsoft's driver from control panel.
;)

ummm. huh? Sorry, I know virtually nothing about the inner workings of this stuff.

A driver is software that is needed to run hardware in a computer.
Drivers are continualy updated and tweaked.Soundblaster is not truly up to snuff when it comes to semi-pro recording applications.
What Mr.Argo is saying is you may have to unistall the Creative drivers and install Microsofts drivers to get proper performance from your sound card.

There may be a "control panel"program for your soundcard also but as I'm unfamiliar with soundblaster I can't help you there.

Don't worry keep checking in or repost your thread with the word "Sound blaster" in the title and you'll get a response from somebody who can help you out.

GOOD LUCK!
