It's actually much cooler than that. The Firepod doesn't use a custom driver at all in Mac OS X. That little app talks to the device through Mac OS X's built-in device control protocols, and Mac OS X's built-in drivers drive the device. It rocks because it eliminates the whole question of whether any compatibility problems are in the drivers or the OS. :D
