hey guys,

I did an instrumental based on the groove of one of my other tunes, 'the hole situation.' I was bored and it seemed like a good idea at the time..

A friend of mine did the guitar solo..

there are a lot of keyboards.. :D

any thoughts?

The first 1:30 of it made me think of Fight Club, maybe because I watched it last night for the 2nd time. This has the same kind of gloomy stuff. So, I think this would really work with a movie.

Then the song really turns into a Vangelis / 70's Genesis type of atmospheric beatiful stuff. The drums fit well for this song, and the general sound of it is very dreamlike and cool. The guitar solo works, and is about the right volume level, so the mixing is good. The bass had a really nice tone in the "bass solo" part. This sounds like a medley, but most instrumentals tend to sound that way. Maybe it's the breaks and tempo changes in the song (I'm pretty sure there were tempo changes, at least :D ). This is really good, and different. Though, it's not that different from what you do. It certainly sounds a Samicide song.

(By the way, the VBR thing makes the song's length display wrong with Winamp for some reason.)
 
Sami... Wow, a such a haunting, majestic ditty!:D Very cool change-ups and transitions... Good soundtrack stuff (sorry if I've said that before...), very powerful. Everything sounds great, although I would have used a much less compressed snare sound. It's too thin for this heavy music! Another great piece, Sami!:D

mixmkr - the only thing thats the Roland is the female voices.. all the other sounds are from the Alesis... My buddy doesnt hit the bong anymore! :D He enjoys just watching me do it. I used VBR encoding.. it says 160 when you stream it though.. yeah I guess the drums are not good.. On 'the hole situation' I used 2 different drum sets.. one for the heavy part, and a different one for the synthy parts.. this version was just buggin' I guess.:D :rolleyes: thanks for the C! That's better then I did in school!

Sam this is great. I say it's best on a nice big stage...Yeah...that big outdoor theatre on the South Shore...what the hell's that called...

Anyway, everything sounds GREAT to me on this but the drums. What did you use? I mean it's neat sounding, but lacks enough beef for your kind of burger IMHlittleO.

I'm listening again...I LOVE that wall of doom stuff. I think the drums work til that big git comes in. Then I'm begging for toms, not necessarily cymbals...but definitely punchier.
That stuff around 1:35 is sweet! The git solo reminds of an Yngwie outro...pretty cool. Then there's a part right after that reminds me of "Crack Hitler" by FNM off Angel Dust.

OT: Dude I've got a scar on my foot from a giant leech I got fishing this weekend. He got fat off me. I'm not sure why I felt compelled to share that with you. Must be the music.
 
I was listening to this again...

my fav part is the synth solo...just before the gtr solo.. It;s really nice. the gtr solo isn't to shabby either...so let your bud know about that.
your bass sounds out of tune on the solo section.

I'm finding that your writing is the ace in the hole with your music. It would be incredibly awesome if some money bags grabbed your plumber butt, and gave ya a zillion doller recording budget, and the place to do it. As good as your recording chops are with your Tascam (and they're waaaaay above average), I can't imagine what some holy roller engineer type would do with your stuff...given a world class studio and some producers' world class ears. You're sooo close on a lot of your stuff. The last 2% would make your CD's completely irresistable.

ok...enough gushing.... your stuff reallys suxs...right cyan?;)
 
oh...btw, I did a cover of one of your tunes...the vocal one with the pno and cello... but I pitched it after I spent all day on it. The timing was too off, that it was becoming an annoyance, and would have been to embarressing to post. Maybe I'll get it down tonight... (that damn pno part)

SLuiCe - that's Jones Beah theatre!! I'm going there to see 'Rush' in 2 weeks.... Yeah I used some bad drum sounds and I cant even change them now.. this one was just a bug out.. Hey man, if the tune reminded you of getting sucked by leeches then I consider it a success.. :D

.......damn dude....... I love that! True......lots of keys, but very tastefully done. Ready for the big screen!!! Whoever did the guit. solo...... very cool, and tastefully mixed in. Ive always dug "hole sit.", but mainly for the vocs...... Im glad you highlighted the music and showed me what i was missing. Great music, great mix.........

hey G, I have a lot of stuff that's halfway done and every now and then I grab something and finish it.. theres a lot of little differences in the music from the original 'hole', like the drums suck in this one , and the guitar is not as fat sounding etc... but I bugged out for a few hours doing it.. :D thanks for the ears man. Drop me a line when it's collaboration time!

I tried singing...but maybe I join the ranks of you and cranky about gtr players "wanting" to sing...'cept you guys can. You outta get a hoot of it. I took it up an octave too:eek:
