monster cable versus regular?

ok, i hear so many incredible things about monster cable. im wondering how their standard 100 mic cable compares to regular mic cable, and also how the 500 and the pro 1000 compare to the 100.

can it really be worth the huge $?

Hey, I've got an idea you dumb turtle. Why don't you look at the other thread about the same thing before you add some spam to the boards. You can't always expect people to bow before you and answer your every question just because you're a "serious" turtle. Go screw yourself.

From my experience, monster cable is not at all worth the money. It sounds like crap compared to the cable I made myself, which cost me $3. Just because something's expensive doesn't mean it's good. That's especially true with Radio Shack, they'll try and sell you a $140 surge protector that doesn't even give you insurance in case of damage. Save your money for some real equipment, bud.

yeah, i put the same topic in two forums, cuz im dead serious about making the right choices about what to get, cuz im serious about recording. is that a crime?

it most certainly is a crime. there's enough crap to sift through to find a good thread as it is. if you duplicate the same question in several places at once, you're just annoying everyone else.

now if you're genuinely concerned about buying the best equipment, that's great. but posting the same question all over the boards isn't going to get you crap except for flames.
 
omnipotent, if this isn't the place to get abusive, then you should talk to your boy sonusman, and his talk about how much carvin sucks. seems to me that you guys break your own rules more than other "quite new" members break them.

For all the people who are quite new to this site. The Forums at Homerecording.com really arn't the place to be abusive, fight about nothing, or try to start a fight (annoying everyone elce). Most people here check all the forums regurly, and if they can answer your question, they will.

By posting your MSG all over, the people who do look over everything get really pissed off, and angering them isn't the best way to get a serious answer to your question.

If you are going to ask a question of this nature it is always a good idea to first do a search. There's a good chance it's already been answered 10 time's. People do get sick of answering the same question over and over again.

I did a search under "monster cable" and recived more links than were alowed. I suggest that if you are really serious about your recording, then you should be willing to spare the time to do the reaserch.

If your question hasn't been answered before, then i'm sure everyone will help you to the best of their ability.

SLOBSTER!!! 3$ man thats crazy, do us all a favor send us the diagram for that cable you made, I'm probably going to be using shure SM57's, and monster pro cable costs more than the damn mics do! I need a cheap solution and I think what you got is it, wanna tell us how you made those cables?
 
I recently bought some Mogami cables from Full Compass ( www.fullcompass.com ). They cost much less than Monster cable. They will probably run for about 1.5x to 2x what you would usually pay for cable, but worth every penny. In my own personal comparisons to my old cable, the difference was night and day. The sound was crystal clear - crisp highs, smooth lows. No fancy signal processing of the sound, just real clean and clear. It almost sounds I have new keyboards.

I haven't ever used Monster cable. The price scared me off. Plus, I've seen Mogami cable mentioned more frequently among pro engineers than Monster (just my observation, nothing scientific or anything). I'm now sold on Mogami. Through full compass, I was able to get as 4 mic cables, and 6 1/4 inched balanced cable for the price of about 3 Monster cables (500's not the Studio Pro 1000). 25 foot XLR's ~$27; 6 ft balanced 1/4 in. ~$13. They have unbalanced and guitar/bass Mogami cables at Full Compass also.

Out of all the gear that I've bought recently, I think that my purchase of Mogami cables was the best money that I've spent in a long time.
