hi folks, a dumb question it may be, anyway:

is it any program that you're aware of that's able to scan a mono wav file of, say, a solo voice or a solo guitar, or trumpet... , and extract the pitch, rythm, everything out of it, and then generate a midi file , transcription of the original track.

My point is I'd like to play this midi file through a DXi soft synth in Sonar.
I already saw this ROLAND special guitar pickup that you stick next to your bridge pickup, plug straight into a synth, and then play your guitar with a sound of violin of analog bass synth
that's what i'd like to end up with, without using this special pickup.

Any clues?

There are a couple of wave to midi programs out there. One is called wav2midi and I can't recall the name of the other.

Do a search at www.harmon-central.com I've had varied results using wav2midi. It can get a general idea of your wave file, but then you have to go in and correct all the mistakes.
