Monitoring Point...

Hey fellas,

Newbie question here. I just got a pair of monitors, KRK 6's, and I'm at a bit of a loss as to where I put them. Right now I run a mixer into a Fostex MR-8 to record. Should I monitor from the MR-8 or from the Mixer? My concern is that the MR-8 only has headphone outs, which I are in Stereo. Should I split one headphone out to left/right?

I've always been mixing through headphones, which I know is not really possible. As I had not thought about it, I didn't realize that there is no main out for the MR-8, which is a little bothersome.

Any ideas?

Isn't there a stereo out L + R on the top of the MR8 right above the 2 headphone jacks?

If so, that's your output.

Run the stereo outs into your mixer and run the mixer outputs into the KRK's. When you want to record something you may need to switch the monitors off to avoid feedback.
