================================

Seems the time has maybe come.

I got a decent Dell PC connected to the Digidesign Mbox and an MAudio keyboard controller. Much of the music is generated from a Roland JV1010 hardsynth, although I also record some electric and acousitc guitar. Also now have the room pretty well treated acoustically (thanks to some major help given here) with corner bass traps and a couple of broadband absorbers.

All along though, I've been hearing everything through these.....

The Mbox has digital output, so as far as new monitors that would seem to be a basic requirement (versus analogue-only).

Also from the ads around the web, there appears to be a basic class distinction between "studio" versus "desktop" monitors. My room is 13 x 15 feet, and is more-or-less dedicated to recording. I also have the current monitors up on fairly decent stands (although being so small, they look kind-of rediculous there). Assuming "studio" is the superior class, does my space and gear warrant going that route?

Finally, cost IS an object. Must remain under $500 for the pair.

Any recommendations greatly appreciated ! ! !

N O B O D Y wants to tell me what monitors to get ? ? ?

Nearfield monitors. Take your favorite cd to your local music store and listen to it on all the different choices of nearfield monitors. Which ever sounds the best to you is what you should buy.
