Hey,
Just looking for some advice on monitors. I plan to buy a new set of monitors to replace the the front left and right speakers from a 5.1 Daewoo set. I seem to be getting fairly good results from these speakers, however, I often find that when you get something new you only then realise what you were missing out on before. I just want to take a step up from what I've got, i'm not expecting "pro" gear.
I've been looking mainly at the M-Audio BX5, Wharfedale D8.1 and Yamaha HS80M all around the £200. I'd like to use the speakers for my regular music listening and currently I have an amp which with an A/B selector so I can choose between the speakers operating from the PC or from my MBox. I'd like do something similar I think and was wondering if any of these speakers would have multiple inputs that I can A/B or if there exists a device I can plug both devices into and then to the speakers?
Another thing while I am here is the position of speakers within the room. I believe that the best option is to have symmetry in that the speakers are each the same distance away from walls. Am I likely to run into any problems with having one side next to a wall? I'm assuming I might find that I hear one side as being louder or something due to reflections but not sure if this is a major problem or not.
Many thanks for any help,
Ian.
