This question goes to anyone, but I know that TRK has and likes his ns-10s

I have a chance to get a great deal on a set of ns-10s that has been used very sparingly in a very well kept studio.

I was hoping you could give me some ideas how to power them.

First off, I have NO BOARD. I track to my Aardvark Q10's and output to a stereo amp (harmon kardon) to drive some JBL speakers.

Since I do not have a board, I need a way (besides mouse/software) to choose source and control volume. (I only need to monitor a CD player, Cassette Deck, and My computer sound card output.) A home stereo amp is great for this, I can easily choose inputs, visually check that my volume is down, switch between speakers, adjust volume for listening level...

I feel like I should have a dedicated power amp that I feed with a small mixer...

Any suggestions of a mixer/power amp combo that would work for me?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Don't go making me the poster boy for NS10's. I just haven't splurged on the Blue Sky's yet.

I use a Hafler TA1400 and it has plenty of power. Mixing the monitoring sources is actually something a $50 Berhinger or Yamaha mixer would probably be good for. If you want something to actually use on the front end you might go for a Mackie or Soundcraft M.
